The American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas will host a UFC Strikeforce fight card on Saturday evening featuring five main events. Alistair Overeem from the Netherlands will face Fabricio Werdum from Brazil in the main event with Brett Rogers vs Josh Barnett, KJ Noons vs Jorge Masvidal, Daniel Cormier vs Jeff Monson and Valentijn Overeem vs Chad Griggs also on the main fight card. Overeem has the clear weight advantage heading into the Octagon for tonight’s fight at 265-lbs over the 238-lbs Werdum and is also listed as a -500 favorite in UFC odds for Saturday’s fight while Werdum would return +300 as the underdog.

Across The Rhine made all to land the Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh.

The Tracey Collins-trained Across The Rhine raced a little wide of his rivals in the early stages and dug deep when he needed to, with 4-5 favourite The Cheka one of the first beaten.

Last seen finishing down the field in the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot, Pat Shanahan’s mount (12-1) saw off Future Generation by a length for his first win in Group Three company.

Collins said: “Pat gave him a super ride. He is quirky and Pat did the right thing by taking him away from the other horses after the start.

“I was very concerned about the ground but I don’t think it’s as soft as people thought.

Silverstone will play host to the 66th British Grand Prix tomorrow and as always the English weather threatens to shake up the Grid.

With Fridays practice being thrown into confusion because of heavy rain, the teams were hoping for a dry and combative Qualifying session. However, with Qualifying currently going on, Silverstone is experiencing rain in certain areas of the track.

Rain famously mixes up grids and might give the race and the Championship something it desperately needs, excitement.

With Vettel running away with the Championship, many people had complained the sport was becoming dull and repetitive, with few races of note so far in the season.

The U.S.A men’s national soccer barely made it through the Group C bracket to the quarterfinals of the 2011 Gold Cup with a 1-0 victory vs Guadeloupe last Tuesday.
