Sportsbook – Cavaliers Want Top Two NBA Draft Picks
The Cleveland Cavaliers already have the #1 pick in the NBA Draft and they might be making a big splash in future NBA odds at the sportsbook because they are trying to get the #2 pick as well.
Cleveland has the first and fourth pick in the NBA Draft on June 23rd but they are trying to trade up from that fourth pick to get the second pick as well. The Cavaliers could look dramatically different next season with the top two picks in the draft and be an instant contender vs. odds at the sportsbook.
Irving and Williams The consensus top two picks in the NBA Draft are Duke’s Kyrie Irving and Arizona’s Derrick Williams. The Cavaliers are trying to get both of those players. The Cavaliers already have indicated they intend to take Irving with the top pick and they are trying really hard to trade up and get Williams as well.
Three-Team Trade The trade that Cleveland is trying to make would be a three-team deal between the Cavaliers, Timberwolves and Pistons. Cleveland would get Richard Hamilton and his $14.6 million dollar contract they would be stuck with. They would also get Detroit’s #8 pick in the draft. They would then send that #8 pick and their own #4 pick to Minnesota for the second pick in the draft. Cleveland would then buy out Hamilton which would make him a free agent. For the deal to happen though, the Pistons want some players as well. They would love to get rid of the Hamilton contract but they also want talent in return. Speculation at the sportsbook has it that the Cavaliers might throw in J.J. Hickson as part of the deal to Detroit as Williams would replace Hickson in the starting lineup.
Cleveland Owner Likes Irving and Williams Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert likes both Irving and Williams. The Cavaliers are going to take Irving but Gilbert really wants both players to build around. It will be very interesting to see if he can make that deal happen as Cleveland would be a vastly improved team vs. the odds at the Sbg sportsbook next season with Irving and Williams in the lineup.
Top Two Picks As you get ready to make a bet at the sportsbook on the NBA Draft you may be wondering if a team has ever had the top two picks in a draft. It has never happened in the NBA but it did happen in the NFL in 1992 as the Indianapolis Colts had the first two picks.
