Take a look at the odds at the online sportsbook for the NCAA Tournament and you can see what a horrible job the NCAA selection committee did in selecting the teams and in seeding the teams.

You have a 6th seed a pick in college hoops odds at the sportsbook company against an 11 seed, some 10 seeds favored against 7 seeds and some teams which shouldn’t be in the tournament at all. 

UAB Blown Out One of the biggest gaffes made by the NCAA selection committee was putting UAB into the tournament at all. The Blazers were blown off the court in one of the “First Four” games by Clemson in a game that was not remotely competitive in college hoops odds at the Sbg sportsbook.  Every expert in college hoops knew that UAB had no business in the tournament but there are no experts on the NCAA selection committee.  The inclusion of UAB into the field was just one of many bad decisions made by the committee this year.

Overrated Seeds The NCAA Tournament committee vastly overrated a number of teams as to where they should be seeded.  North Carolina and Florida each lost seven games this season and they are #2 seeds.  San Diego State lost only two games and they are a #2 seed if that tells you how much of a disparity there is.  The #3 seeds are even worse as BYU is totally overrated as a third seed along with Connecticut who was just a .500 team in the regular season in the Big East.  The #5 seeds could also lose vs. the odds at the sportsbook company in the first round as West Virginia, Vanderbilt and Kansas State all had double-digit losses and Arizona is nothing special.

Underrated Seeds Utah State is a #12 seed that won 30 games this season.  Belmont is a #13 seed that also won 30 games. We already mentioned that San Diego State has a great case for being a number one seed with 32 wins.  George Mason won 26 games this season and yet they could do no better than a #8 seed.

Expect Upsets This is the weakest NCAA Tournament field in history so you can expect some upsets vs. the odds at the online sportsbook.  When you put that with the fact that the NCAA selection committee did a horrible job of seeding the teams and anything is possible in this year’s tournament.
