How many times have you had the right side of a baseball game vs. the odds at the online sportsbook only to see the bullpen blow the game for you?

Five-Inning Lines If you are going to bet a five-inning line at the sports book you really treat it the same way as a normal bet except that it only goes five innings.  The money lines are pretty much the same but the totals are obviously lower.  The great part about a five-inning line is that you don’t have to worry about the bullpens because most starters will go at least five innings. It is really nice to be able to handicap a game based on the starting pitchers and know that the bullpen will not affect your wager.

Bullpens Not Part of the Equation When most bettors handicap baseball they don’t factor the bullpen into the game. It is really a matchup of starting pitchers and then basic home and away numbers. The bullpen doesn’t really factor in to handicapping a baseball game. The problem that bettors run into is that the bullpen has a huge impact on your bottom line. The Houston bullpen has already blown seven saves.  Other bullpens have also been bad as the Angels, Diamondbacks, Mets, Blue Jays and Brewers continue to allow home runs.

5-Inning Winners and Losers One team that bettors have trusted on the 5-inning line at the online sportsbook is the Angels as their starting pitching has been superb.  The 5-inning line takes their rotten bullpen out of the equation.  A team that loses on a regular basis on the 5-inning line is Seattle which is somewhat surprising considering they have good starting pitching.  The Mariners can’t score though and that is a major problem against quality starting pitching.  The Marlins have been poor on the road against the 5-inning line at the Sbg global sportsbook but you wouldn’t want to bet against the Marlins on the regular line as they continually find ways to win late.  The Royals are also much better vs. the 5-inning line than against the regular line while the Cubs are poor vs. the line at home.
