Indiana Fever ready for revenge against Atlanta Dream

Tags: Dream

Sportsbooks opened Indiana as a 6 ½-point favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at 137. Early wagers on the Dream and ‘over’ moved the numbers to 5 ½ and 138 on several betting boards. NBA TV will provide national coverage of the Eastern Conference clash, scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. (ET).

Indiana has been off for five days since Sunday’s 83-51 triumph as a 10 ½-point home favorite against the Washington Mystics. The Fever pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Washington, 25-9.

Fever guard Katie Douglas notched a team-high 15 points, while adding five rebounds. Douglas’ mate Tamika Catchings grabbed eight boards and four steals, finishing with 13 points.

The lopsided affair’sbined 134 points dipped below the ‘total’ of 143 ½, bringing the ‘under’ to 3-0 in Indiana’s last three games. The Fever held Washington to 35.2 percent field shooting, while edging out the Mystics in paint points, 26-16.

Indiana is 11-3 ATS in its first 14 home dates, with the ‘under’ going 7-5-1. Catchings and Co. have held visiting foes to 68.6 PPG.

Dream edge out Sky in Chi-town

Atlanta picked up its fourth win in five games with Tuesday’s 83-80 victory as a two-point road dog against the Chicago Sky. The Dream connected at 52.4 percent from the field, while being outrebounded, 37-26.

Dream forward Angel McCoughtry piled in team-highs of 22 points and seven rebounds. The 2011 All-Star hit 10-of-13 free throws, while adding three steals.

Atlanta’s Sancho Lyttle and Erika de Souza logged two blocks each, uniting for 25 points. Lyttle grabbed six boards, while de Souza hit 6-of-11 field buckets.

The contest’sbined 163 points leaped above the ‘total’ of 157, making the ‘over’ 5-0-1 in Atlanta’s last six games. Dream guard Lindsey Harding logged nine assists for a second straight game, equaling her season-high for a fourth time.

Atlanta is 5-8-1 ATS in its 14 road games, with the ‘over’ collecting at 7-6-1. McCoughtry and Co. have put up 81.6 PPG in that stretch.

Indy looks for revenge

The Dream have a 9-1 spread mark in their last 10 meetings against Indiana, with the ‘over’ cashing at 8-2. That being said, SBR Forum poster Ebemiss (WNBA Handicapper) is predicting the ‘under’ in tonights contest.

Atlanta won last month’s meeting between the foes, 84-74, as a 2 ½-point home dog. Harding finished with team-highs of 19 points and five assists for the Dream, while de Souza logged 15 points and 11 boards for a double-double. Indiana was held to 40 percent field shooting, while sinking 19-of-21 free throws.

This basketball handicapper is backing the Fever minus the points in Saturday night’s rematch, going against the early ‘steam.’

Indiana (19-8) is preserving a tight 1 ½-game lead in the Eastern Conference standings over the Connecticut Sun (18-10), with Atlanta in striking range (14-13) from the No. 4 spot. The Fever are looking ahead to a tough road trip with battles against the Dream and Sun, knowing this home spot will build momentum going into those key matchups.

Indiana has picked up a lot of steam since its July 19 defeat against Atlanta, reeling off marks of 9-2 SU and 7-3-1 ATS. The Fever dropped their matchup against the Dream on one day of rest, following a tough loss against Connecticut. Five days of being idle should help Indianae out sharp this time around, with the Fever 7-0 ATS in their last seven games that followed three or more rest days.

Take the Fever, laying a low premium to cash another ticket at Conseco Fieldhouse.
