Stanley Cup props heat-up Final

Tags: Final, Stanley Cup

The much anticipated Stanley Cup Final between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks doesn’t begin until Wednesday, but there are plenty of props to keep you interested until then.

For starters, Vancouver is a solid favorite for the series at -200, while Boston is +170. The Canucks are looking for their first championship in franchise history, while the Bruins last hoisted the Cup in 1972.

Exact Games is another prop attracting attention. Vancouver fans looking for a better payout on their team can predict a win in four games (+650) five games (+300), six games (+400) or a full seven (+325).

Boston’s most favored scenario is to win in six games (+450), which would close it out in Beantown on June 12. Their outcome with arguably the most value is a five-game win (+1200).

The Conn Smythe award for the MVP of the playoffs is also very interesting (see all listed odds below). Note this award is for the entire playoffs, not just the Finals.

A forward has won this award the last three years with Chicago’s Jonathan Toews, Pittsburgh Evgeni Malkin and Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg. That’s one reason that Ryan Kesler leads these odds (+150). The other is his 18 points so far, great defensive play and that Boston could be keying more on the Sedin brothers.

A defenseman last won this award in 2007 with Anaheim’s Scott Niedermayer. You have to go way down the odds list to Boston’s Zdeno Chara (+1200) to find the first defenseman. Chara has been great this postseason and will need a huge series for the Bruins to have a chance. These odds represent excellent value for the hulking defenseman.

Finally, a goalie last won this award with Carolina’s Cam Ward in 2006. Tim Thomas and Roberto Luongo have both had tremendous moments during the playoffs, but also some struggles. Thomas will get a lot of consideration if he’s play great and Boston wins. He’s the better value of the two puck-stoppers at +350.

Conn Smythe Odds

Tim Thomas (+350)

Roberto Luongo (+550)

Alexander Edler (+2500)
