NHL Playoffs – Game 4 Philadelphia vs. Boston

There are likely some deju vu feelings going on in this series too as the Flyers and their goalie carousel find themselves down 3-0 to the Bruins once again and are hoping they can rekindle some of last years magic. They managed to overcome this same deficit against Boston last year in the historic comeback, but this year it will be a lot harder. For one, they are playing against a veteran, Vezina candidate in Tim Thomas not a young, fragile Tukka Rask and they are also missing their key piece in Chris Pronger. However, belief is a powerful tool and the Flyers definitely believe they can come back, they have before right

Inconsistent goaltending has killed the Flyers in this series and it will be interesting to see who they go with tonight. Boucher and Bobrovsky have both seen action in the last two games, neither was impressive either. Philly has allowed 15 goals to the Bruins in three games and that average of 5 goals per game just cant be a winning formula. They are now 0-11-1 against Boston when David Krejci is in the lineup (was injured in last years series) and as odd as that stat is, it is not welcoming for those looking to back Philly. They are 1-6 SU after scoring 2 goals or less last time out and really need to be offensively productive given how many they let in themselves.

However, like the Sharks could tonight, the Bruins may let up in terms of their intensity level and focus being up 3-0. The argument against this is that the Bruins were victimized by this same team in this same situation last year and do not want to give the Flyers any breath of life. They have clearly been the better team all series, but last years Game 4 loss came in OT and if Philly can get a bounce or two their way tonight, you never know.

The line movement in this game is important to note as well with Boston opening at -175 and now sitting 20 cents lower at -155. That is even with a small majority liking the Bruins to sweep tonight. Philly is similar to Detroit in the sense that their dressing room is filled with too many vets that do not want to go down like this. Philly probably wont be able to come all the way back again like last season, but I think they get it done tonight.
