NHL Playoff Betting: Game 2 Boston vs. Philadelphia

Tags: Game, Game Boston

The goalie carousel continues in Philly after allowing 7 goals in Game 1 and seeing their starter get pulled after another dismal performance. The Flyers are at a huge disadvantage in this series in terms of goaltending, but they are just asking for some all around solid play so that their offense can get on track and build a lead. Brian Boucher will get another crack at it tonight against Boston after getting pulled in Game 1 and the Flyers and their fans hope that a day off to rest and reflect will do wonders for him tonight.

Philly cannot afford to go down 0-2 and head to Boston in this series which makes tonights game a proverbial must-win. They are 5-2 SU after allowing 5 or more goals in the last game and 13-6 SU after losing at home by 3 or more goals so it isnt like this veteran team doesnt know how to rebound. Claude Giroux currently leads the NHL in playoff points (11) while Danny Briere leads in goals (7) and those two will be crucial to the Flyers success tonight. They need to try and get the first goal and build upon that lead that way they can help out Boucher in their own end more and become more defensive-oriented. It is a tough task to do though when the whole team has minimal confidence in their goaltending but the Flyers have no other choice; they cannot go to Boston down 0-2 facing a Vezina candidate at home.

Boston continues to ride the momentum they have been building since Game 3 of the opening round, winning five of six now and would love to head home up 2-nil. They are 5-1 SU as a road dog of +110 to +150 and are built to be a solid road team with big crashers up front and a solid defensive front at the back. Their first line finally got it going in Game 1 after struggling in the Montreal series and as a team they have had great success in this building of late. They are 9-3 SU in Philly and have only lost once to the Flyers in five meetings this season. The power play continues to be a soft spot for Boston in these playoffs though as they have yet to score a goal with the man-advantage and while they got by Montreal like that, it will be tougher for them to do the same against a more offensively talented Flyers team in the long run. Boston is happy with a split but are searching for more tonight, something they wont get done.

Philly needs this game and although they know they can come back on these Bruins like last season, they do not want to put themselves in that spot again. A 1-1 series split heading on the road is no big deal after their horrendous Game 1 performance and a strong victory tonight would actually help them build confidence for the road. With so many hockey bettors making the sound point of Phillys goalie situation tonight and picking Boston, these Flyers know whats up and answered all these same questions last year on the way to the Cup.

Philly gets it done tonight and evens up the series at 1.
