Woods to Miss Another Major

Tags: Woods, Woods Miss

Tiger Woods has ruled himself out of the Open Championship due to the persistent left leg injury that has been troubling him for some time now.

Woods put a statement on his official website saying Unfortunately, Ive been advised that I should not play in the British Open. Woods, a 14 time Major Winner, is now 17th in the World Rankings and has not looked at the same level as the likes of Westwood and McIlroy since problems in his personal life meant he took time out of the game last year.

Although many fans will be disappointed to miss watching the worlds richest sportsmen play, his game recently has not been anything like the old Woods that won all of those majors.

Woods has had a string of injuries since his last victory in 2008. He revealed he had been playing for a year with a torn knee ligament, he had a double break of his left tibia. He then had Achilles problems and reportedly underwent surgery for that as well.

He now will miss the latest big tournament with a side strain and also a tweak of the Achilles he sustained at the Masters.
