British Grand Prix Betting Preview Vettel odds on to win at Silverstone

Tags: British Grand, British Grand Prix, Grand Prix, Vettel

The Formula One season continues this weekend and Sebastian Vettel is a huge favourite for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Defending world champion Vettel has been dominant this season andVictor Chandler make him4/6 on in the betting as he looksto pick up his seventh win of the season on Sunday, while British pair Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button will be hoping to give their home crowd something to cheer.

It is a new look Silverstone this weekend as the track boasts a new pit lane and paddock, although that will be of little concern to the in-form Vettel.

The Red Bull driver has picked up six wins from eight races this season, including victory in Valencia last time out. The German now leads the world driver’s championship by an astonishing 77 points, with eleven races still to come. It is without a doubt Vettel’s to lose as his Red Bull car continues to prove far too good for the rest and he will be keen to add another British Grand Prix title to the one he claimed in 2009.

Vettel is a huge 4/11 on to finish Saturday’s qualifying session in pole position according to VCBet, although Vettel was on pole last year before he had to retire.

The reasons for his retirement last year were slightly controversial as teammate Mark Webber effectively forced Vettel off the track, with the German suffering a puncture as a result. The Australian Webber went on to take victory but he has had to live in the shadow of his younger partner this season, with Victor Chandler pricing Webber as a 6/1 chance this weekend.

McLaren will be hoping to put some pressure on the Red Bull team as they cling to their coattails in the constructor’s championship. Hamilton and Button are the only two drivers other than Vettelto have won a race this season, with Hamilton taking victory in China and Button in Canada.

Hamilton was a winner at Silverstone in 2008 and a runner up last year, and he will be hoping to impress his home faithful. McLaren have made improvements to their car but whether it’s enough remains to be seen, with Hamilton available at 4/1 this weekend. Teammate Button produced a stunning drive to win the Canada Grand Prix as he came from last to beat Vettel on thefinal lap. However, Button has never finished better than fourth at Silverstone and is priced 10/1 with VictorChandler.comthis time.

A more likely challenge could come from the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso, who won here in 2006 and can be backed at 5/1. Alonso has only one podium finish from his last four outings though, and his teammate Felipe Massa (33/1)continues to exasperate with his erratic style of driving.

Meanwhile, three time British Grand Prix winnerMichael Schumacher is available at 100/1 as he looks to roll back the years, although his Mercedes car is a far cry from the Ferrari he excelled in several years back. And it is now a younger German in Vettel who leads the way in F1 and in the betting.
